DILI, East Timor - Sergio Vieira de Mello, who heads the U.N. Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET), in an interview with a small group of reporters, says in Dili on Aug. 19 that the first democratic election in East Timor could be held as early as Aug. 30 next year.
