Last group of Miyakejima residents lines up to leaves island
MIYAKEJIMA, Japan - Residents of Miyakejima Island line up Sept. 4 before boarding a regular ferry at Sabigahama, on the west side of the island, after an evacuation order was issued by the Tokyo metropolitan government for fear of pyroclastic flows. The group of islanders was the last to leave. Some 400 officials and disaster relief workers will remain on the island.
