Nobel laureate seeks more Asian signatories to land mine ban
GENEVA, Switzerland - More Asian countries, including China and India, must sign the global Land Mine Ban Treaty, 1997 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jody Williams tells Kyodo News in an interview on Sept. 11. 'I don't think countries are comfortable staying outside the treaty,' Williams, now an international ambassador for the International Campaign To Ban Land Mines (ICBL), says.
