Kanagawa gov. meets U.S. Navy chief to protest night drills
YOKOHAMA, Japan - Kanagawa Gov. Hiroshi Okazaki (far R) meets with Rear Adm. Robert Chaplin (L), the commander of the U.S. Navy in Japan, on Oct. 17 to protest night landing drills conducted by Navy aircraft at the Atsugi base in September. In their meeting at the U.S. Forces' Yokosuka base, Okazaki also requested that the location of night landing practices be switched to Iwojima, a remote Pacific island 1,500 kilometers south of Tokyo.
