Welfide, Mitsubishi-Tokyo Pharmaceuticals to merge
OSAKA, Japan - Shinichiro Iida (L), president of Welfide Corp., and Ryuichi Tomizawa, president of Mitsubishi-Tokyo Pharmaceuticals Inc., shake hands at a news conference in Osaka on Nov. 1 after announcing an agreement to start talks on merging on an equal basis Oct. 1 next year, a move which would create the seventh largest pharmaceutical firm in Japan.
