Seattle Mariners close to deal on Ichiro

KOBE, Japan - Tony Atanacio (L), agent for seven-time Pacific League batting champion Ichiro Suzuki, Seattle Mariners President Chuck Armstrong (C) and Chairman Howard Lincoln shake hands at the end of their first round of negotiations at a Kobe hotel Nov. 16. Atanacio said he is satisfied with the talks and indicated they are entering the final phase of negotiations.
