Early Mars may have been land of lakes

WASHINGTON, United States - An image of Mars captured by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft with its Mars Orbiter Camera shows layers of Earth-like sedimentary rock. NASA scientists said Mars may have been a land of lakes in its earliest period. The photo provided by NASA covers an area 2.9 kilometers by 1.5 kilometers.
