'Tiananmen Papers' reveal reformist current in Beijing: editor

NEW YORK, United States - James Hoge, editor of Foreign Affairs, says in a recent interview with Kyodo News that the U.S. publication of ''The Tiananmen Papers'' -- transcripts of Chinese leaders' debates on whether to crush the 1989 pro-democracy student movement in Beijing -- is significant in revealing a reformist current among high-level officials in Beijing. Foreign Affairs published extracts of the document in its latest edition.
