Fishermen rally to demand gov't open Isahaya Bay dikes

ISAHAYA, Japan - Fishing boats gather off Isahaya Bay, Nagasaki Prefecture, on Jan. 28 for a rally to demand the government open dikes at the mouth of the bay closed in 1997 under a land reclamation project they believe responsible for damaged seaweed crops. Some 6,000 fishermen rallied in more than 1,000 boats in the Ariake Sea.
