Nishida set to pull away from S. African Thys
OITA, Japan - Takayuki Nishida gets set to pull away from challenger Gert Thys of South Africa with 10 kilometers remaining in the 42.195-km Beppu-Oita marathon Feb. 4 on his way to a meet record time of 2:08:45. Thys, who set the record in the 1996 Beppu-Oita race, did not finish.
