Matsushita develops Japanese-Chinese translation software

Osaka, Japan - Photo shows a prototype mobile Japanese-Chinese translation device equipped with bi-directional speech translation software, jointly developed by the Matsushita Research Institute of Tokyo and the Chinese Academy of Science Institute of Automation in Beijing. The software is aimed at business travelers who demand light, compact and easy-to-use devices. When a user pronounces a phrase in Japanese or Chinese, the spoken translation will emit from the device, which can translate 1,000 basic phrases and has a vocabulary of 10,000 words.
