Council of Europe delegation asks Japan to stay executions
TOKYO, Japan - Gunnar Jansson (R), leader of a delegation from the Council of Europe that is in Japan to study the country's death penalty system, meets Japanese Justice Minister Masahiko Komura (L) in Tokyo on Feb. 22. Jansson, chairman of the European organization's human rights committee, urged Japan to adopt a system whereby executions could be stayed.
