Embattled Mori survives no-confidence motion
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori (3rd from L), who is under mounting pressure to resign over a string of verbal blunders and scandals, survived a no-confidence motion against his cabinet March 5 by a majority vote of his ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its allies. During the House of Representatives plenary session, Yukio Hatoyama (foreground), leader of the Democratic party of Japan, explained why the motion was tabled by his party, the Liberal Party, the Japanese Communist Party and the Social Democratic Party.
