Kanagawa man indicted on murder charge after reinvestigation
YOKOHAMA, Japan - File photo shows Kei Sasaki, who was indicted by public prosecutors on March 18 on a charge of killing his former girlfriend and committing arson. Police sent Sasaki's papers to the prosecutors in March 1995. But they dropped the case in June 1998 due to a lack of evidence. But in an unusual move, they decided to reopen it after a civil court judge last July ruled that Sasaki, 28, committed the murder and arson. The ruling was in response to a suit filed in December 1996 by Iijima's parents. Sasaki was arrested Feb. 26.
