Ehime school marks 5th anniversary of Ehime Maru sinking

MATSUYAMA, Japan - Relatives of people who died in the sinking of the fishery training ship Ehime Maru off Hawaii by a surfacing U.S. nuclear submarine offer flowers on Feb. 10 at a ceremony at the Uwajima Fisheries High School in Ehime Prefecture. The school held a memorial service to mark the fifth anniversary of the accident in which nine people died.

Ehime Maru victim's parents return home with son's ashes

Relatives of Ehime Maru victims return to Japan

NARITA, Japan - Relatives of five victims of the Japanese fisheries training ship Ehime Maru that was struck and sunk by a U.S. Navy submarine off Hawaii in February return to Japan from Honolulu on Oct. 27, bringing with them the ashes of the deceased. Twelve relatives of three victims arrived at Narita airport near Tokyo, while seven relatives of two other victims returned via Osaka's Kansai airport.

Terata and other relatives of eight of 35 Japanese who were aboard the ship have appointed a group of lawyers to conduct compensation talks with the United States, and may file a lawsuit against it.
