Aikawa wins 1st Saitama mayoral election
SAITAMA, Japan - Former Urawa Mayor Soichi Aikawa waves at supporters after winning the first mayoral election of the city of Saitama on May 27, beating seven other candidates. The city was created May 1 through a merger of the cities of Urawa, Omiya and Yono in Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo.
