Tanaka backs down in feud with Koizumi
TOKYO, Japan - Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka walks into the prime minister's official residence for talks with Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda on Aug. 2. Tanaka backed down in a feud with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi over personnel changes at the Foreign Ministry, agreeing to replace Japan's ambassador to the United States and four other top-ranking diplomats, a government source said.
