Matsushita group, NEC tie up on W-CDMA mobile phones
TOKYO, Japan - Kunio Nakamura (C), president of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., and Koji Nishigaki (2nd from R), president of NEC Corp., shake hands at a news conference in Tokyo on Aug. 21 before announcing their alliance to develop Internet-capable third-generation (3G) mobile phones. The two companies, along with Matsushita Communication Industrial Co, agreed on the tie-up to bolster global competitiveness of mobile phone handsets based on the advanced data transmission technology called the W-CDMA.
