Arthur Miller among 5 Praemium Imperiale laureates
TOKYO, Japan - Arthur Miller (file photo), the American playwright best known for his ''Death of a Salesman,'' and four other foreign artists have been awarded the 13th Praemium Imperiale, the Japan Art Association said in Tokyo on Sept. 14. Miller was named the recipient in the theater/film category while Lee Ufan, a South Korean living in Japan, was named a laureate in painting, Marta Pan, of France, in sculpture, Jean Nouvel, also of France, in architecture, and Ornette Coleman, an American saxophonist, in music. The Praemium Imperiale was established in 1987 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Japan Art Association.
