Civic groups rally against U.S. retaliation for terror attacks

NAHA, Japan - Civic groups in Okinawa Prefecture, home to the bulk of U.S. military forces in Japan, stage a demonstration on Septm 22 in the prefectural capital of Naha to protest against expected U.S. military action in retaliation for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. About 100 people representing 33 civic groups marched through the city, yelling, ''The U.S. should stop retaliatory war.'' They also shouted, ''We cannot win peace by war,'' and ''The Self-Defense Forces should not send troops overseas.''
