Ditched water scooter likely used by N. Korean agent

TOYAMA, Japan - Photo shows a water scooter (front) found March 29 on a sand near the mouth of the Kurobe River in Toyama Prefecture on the Sea of Japan coast which police said Sept. 27 may have been used by one or several North Korean agents to enter Japan. A similar scooter (back) was found in November 1990 on a beach in Fukui Prefecture, also on the Sea of Japan coast, along with two corpses.

          KAGOSHIMA, Japan - One of 3,000 select visitors looks at a salvaged North Korean spy ship involved in a shoot-out with Japan Coast Guard (JCG) patrol boats in 2001 as it went on public display at a Kagoshima City dock on May 17. Apart from the ship itself, the coast guard also showed a small boat, a water scooter and some weapons recovered from the ship. (Kyodo)
