Foreign Ministry fires official over hotel fraud scam

TOKYO, Japan - Three senior Foreign Ministry officials bow at a news conference Sept. 27 after announcing the dismissal of Akio Asakawa, 56, a former assistant director at the First West Europe Division of the ministry's European Affairs Bureau, who was indicted on fraud charges.

Inflation, meanwhile, is expected to slow to 9.6 percent this year, 4.6 percent next year and 2.5 percent in 2025. This forecast will be used by the Estonian government as the basis for drawing up the 2024 state budget bill. The prognosis was introduced by Minister of Finance Mart Võrklaev, Raoul Lättemäe, director of the ministry's Fiscal Policy Department and Kadri Klaos, director of the ministry's Public Finance Service.
