Daiei to open fashion outlet in Ginza

TOKYO, Japan - Debt-strapped supermarket chain operator Daiei Inc. will soon open a retail outlet devoted to selling fashionable clothes in Tokyo's Ginza shopping area in an effort to turn around its corporate fortunes. Daiei officials said Oct. 25 the fashion building will accommodate such brand tenants as the PAS, a casual clothes shop, the RedWoods jeans retailer (pictured), and nispicy, a marketer of apparel for women in their 20s.

                    TOKYO, Japan - Fashion models wear white trousers made of a special fabric that prevents underwear from showing through, which Uniqlo Co., the operator of the Uniqlo-brand casual clothing shop chain, announced on April 17 it will start selling on April 23. The trousers, Uniqlo's first product jointly developed with textile maker Toray Industries Inc., are aimed at easing female consumers' worries that their underwear may show through the white trousers they want to wear in the spring and summer seasons, Uniqlo said.
