Human cells auctioned for first time
TOKYO, Japan - Hideo Okumura, director general of the Japan Human Cell Society, speaks at a news conference in Tokyo late on Oct. 25 to explain the circumstance that led to the first auction of human cells in Japan. The human cells strains, used by Okumura as collateral for loans totaling 120 million yen, were bought in an auction Oct. 26 for 160 million yen by a Tokyo businessman, one of creditors of the loans.
