JAL, JAS to merge to become world's 6th-largest airline
TOKYO, Japan - Japan Airlines (JAL) President Isao Kaneko (L) and Japan Air System (JAS) President Hiromi Funabiki tell a news conference at a hotel in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward on Nov. 12 that they have agreed to integrate their operations next September under a holding company to create the sixth-biggest global carrier in terms of passenger miles. Behind them stand flight attendants from the two airlines.
