Ethiopian Abera wins Fukuoka Int'l Marathon for 2nd time
FUKUOKA, Japan - Olympic and world champion Gezahegne Abera of Ethiopia wins the Fukuoka International Marathon on Dec. 2 in a time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, 25 seconds. The victory marks the second time overall and first time since 1999 that Abera has won the Fukuoka marathon. He was also the gold medalist at last year's Sydney Olympics and at the world championships in Edmonton, Canada, in August.
