Patrol boat Amami damaged by suspected N. Korean ship

KAGOSHIMA, Japan - The Japan Coast Guard boat Amami's interior is shown heavily damaged by gunfire from the suspected North Korean ship which intruded into Japan's 200-nautical mile exclusive economic zone on Dec. 22. The image released by the coast guard on Dec. 24 in Kagoshima, Japan, shows a broken radar screen and ceiling on the Amami.

                    MOSCOW, Russia - A crew member of the Japanese crab-fishing boat Yoshi Maru No. 38 shows a pack of crabs the ship caught to Russian border guard authorities at Nakhodka port on Jan. 30. The Japanese boat was seized in the Sea of Japan on Jan. 27 on suspicion of fishing in Russia's exclusive economic zone without authorization from Russia. The border guard authorities let the Russian press see the seized boat the same day. (Kyodo)

                      NAHA, Japan - A Taiwanese boat (L in front), accompanied by two Taiwanese patrol vessels, head to the disputed Senkaku islets in the East china Sea in an apparent protest against Japan's handling of a ship collision involving a Taiwanese boat last week, the Japan Coast Guard said.
