World's oldest active conductor Asahina dies at 93
OSAKA, Japan - File photo shows Takashi Asahina, the world's oldest active conductor, who died of natural causes Dec. 29 at a Kobe hospital at the age of 93. Asahina, shown here conducting the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra at a rehearsal in Osaka's Philharmonic Hall in Nishinari Ward in July 2001, was invited to perform with the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra in 1996.
