Euro debuts in Japan earlier than in Europe
OSAKA, Japan - Passengers traveling overseas from Kansai international airport in Osaka hold up euro notes they got on Jan. 1, earlier than in continental Europe due to the time difference. Banks and exchange counters at the airport began exchanging the European Union's new currency at 6 a.m., one hour ahead of Finland and Greece.
