Engineering weaker yen would anger U.S., Kato warns
TOKYO, Japan - Takatoshi Kato, former vice finance minister for international affairs and now a senior adviser to the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, speaks in an interview with Kyodo News on Jan. 9. He warned Japan must be cautious in artificially engineering a weaker yen lest the United States balk at such manipulation.
