NPA shows off new police ID, badges

TOKYO, Japan - The National Police Agency (NPA) on Jan. 17 released new police ID and badges designed to better identify officers and improve accountability following a series of police scandals. The ID consists of a badge and photo in a case. The other badges, to be worn by uniformed officers, are an additional feature. They bear two letters indicating an officer's affiliation and three identification numbers.

The NPA put Sin on the list on suspicion of violating Japan's passport law by illegally obtaining Hara's passport by impersonating him.
