Orphans of terror, war, quakes gather in Tokyo

TOKYO, Japan - Some 80 children from seven countries and territories, including some who lost parents in the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States and the U.S. bombing of Afghanistan, sing a song in an opening ceremony of their gathering in Tokyo on Aug. 5. Afghan NGO members arrive in Japan for rehabilitation forum

NARITA, Japan - Three women, part of a group of Afghan delegates from nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) attending a three-day conference on the country's rehabilitation that begins in Tokyo on Dec. 11, arrive at Narita airport, east of Tokyo, on Dec. 10. The members represent 27 NGOs engaged in land mine removal, medical care, education and agricultural support in the war-torn country.
