Scientists determine enzyme role in plant growth
TOKYO, Japan - A Hokkaido University research team led by biology professor Teruhiko Yoshihara said April 17 a substance called theobroxide helps regulate plant growth by activating a system that produces hormones, which trigger flowering and fruit production. The potato at right was grown with theobroxide sprayed on its leaves and the one on the left without the substance. The photo was provided by Yoshihara.
