New bullet train linking Morioka and Hachinohe named Hayate
TOKYO, Japan - A new bullet train, shown in this composite photo, that will run between Morioka and Hachinohe in northeastern Japan from Dec. 1 has been named Hayate, which means gale in Japanese. The name was chosen from public submissions. The new bullet train service is an extension of the Tohoku Shinkansen Line, which currently links Tokyo and Morioka.
