Olympic champion Takahashi 4th in pro athlete tax list

TOKYO, Japan - Olympic marathon gold medalist Naoko Takahashi spoke to reporters in Sakura, Chiba Prefecture, on May 16. According to the National Tax Agency's listing of the top taxpayers in 2001, Takahashi, who won the women's marathon in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, paid 141.47 million yen in income tax, coming in fourth among professional athletes.
