Jam ruins in Afghanistan to become World Heritage site
PARIS, France - The Minaret of Jam and surrounding ruins in western Afghanistan could become Afghanistan's first World Heritage site, the United Nations said May 24. The 65 meter-tall minaret, built in the 12th century, is the second tallest after the Qutub Minar in New Delhi. Photo was provided by UNESCO.
