Japan group to build 50% of Taiwan bullet train track

TOKYO, Japan - Photo released by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. shows a model of a train that will run on a bullet train system in Taiwan. A seven-company consortium including Mitsubishi signed a contract with Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. in Tokyo on July 23 to lay the southern section of railroad tracks for the train system that will run for 345 kilometers from Taipei to Kaohsiung in one and a half hours.
