Tourists enjoy traditional horse race
HARA, Japan - About 30,000 tourists enjoy the celebrated ''Soma-nouma-oi'' horse race at the Hibarigahara field in the town of Hara, Fukushima Prefecture, on July 24. The annual event dates from the days of medieval warrior Taira no Masakado (?-940), the ruler of the Kanto region in eastern Japan, who encouraged his men to chase wide horses for routine training.
