6 named for Order of Culture award

TOKYO, Japan - The government will award this year's Order of Culture to six people -- economist Ryutaro Komiya (top R), aerospace engineer Jiro Kondo (top C), film director Kaneto Shindo (top L), novelist Sonoko Sugimoto (bottom R), Nobel chemical prize laureate Koichi Tanaka (bottom C) and glass-work artist Kyohei Fujita. Emperor Akihito will give the awards to the six at the Imperial Palace on Nov. 3, Culture Day, a national holiday. (Kyodo)
