U.S. nixes handover of Marine over attempted rape charge
GUSHIKAWA, Japan - Members of local labor unions hold a protest rally outside a U.S. military base in Gushikawa, Okinawa Prefecture on Dec. 5 over an incident in which a U.S. Marine Corps officer allegedly attempted to rape a Filipino woman. The U.S. refused to hand over the officer, Maj. Michael Brown, 39, to Japanese authorities before indictment. (Kyodo)
