(1)Japan approves UNESCO, other envoys
TOKYO, Japan - The Japanese government approved Jan. 17 the appointment of Teiichi Sato (L, top) Japan's first ambassador to UNESCO. Toshio Mochizuki (C, top) was appointed ambassador to Greece and Hiroshi Hashimoto (R, top) ambassador to Austria. Other new ambassadors are (from L to R, below) are Kanji Tsushima (Mozambique), Masayuki Makiya (Sudan), and Katsuo Yamashita (Papua New Guinea). (Kyodo)
