Narita airport dispute arbitrator Sumiya dies at 86
TOKYO, Japan - Mikio Sumiya (file photo taken in June, 1985), a labor economist who acted as an arbitrator in the 1990s in a thorny dispute between the central government and opponents of Narita airport, died on Feb. 22 at a Tokyo hospital. He was 86. Sumiya, a professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo, previously served as president of the private Tokyo Woman's Christian University. (Kyodo)
