China says ex-Chinese Communist Party chief Zhao Ziyang alive

BEIJING, China - The Chinese government said on May 26 that former Chinese Communist Party chief Zhao Ziyang (file photo) is alive, thus denying a report by Kyodo News last month that Zhao had died at 83. On April 30, Kyodo quoted Chinese sources as saying that Zhao died of a heart ailment in a Beijing hospital on April 28. (Kyodo)
