(1)Lower house passes SDF Iraq dispatch bill

TOKYO, Japan - The House of Representatives passes a bill for a new law to allow the government to dispatch Self-Defense Forces (SDF) personnel to Iraq to assist in reconstruction work there at a plenary session on July 4. The bill allows SDF members to provide Iraqis with humanitarian and reconstruction assistance in areas where conflicts are not taking place or will not take place. (Kyodo)
