YOKOHAMA, Japan - Bruce Cumings, a professor at the University of Chicago and an expert on Korean affairs, speaks at an international conference of the Japan Congress Against A and H Bombs (Gensuikin) in Yokohama on Aug. 2. He said U.S. peace efforts on the Korean Peninsula since 1945 have not been successful and that Iraq could turn into a divided country like North and South Korea.
