Nikkei ends 554 points lower, biggest fall for 2003
TOKYO, Japan - An electric board of a securities company in Tokyo's Yurakucho district shows the closing figures for Tokyo stocks Oct. 23, with the key Nikkei index suffering the largest fall for this year of 554.46 points. Investors sold shares across the board to lock in profits from recent rises amid reports of a reported scandal involving the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. (Kyodo)
