Valentine lands deal as new Lotte manager
TOKYO, Japan - Former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine emerges from talks with the Lotte Marines at a Tokyo hotel on Nov. 2. He landed a three-year deal to replace Koji Yamamoto as manager of the Pacific League club in the 2004 season. The 53-year-old guided the Chiba club to second place in 1995 for its first top-three finish in the league in 10 years. (Kyodo)
