Sony says it will release world's lightest notebook PC

TOKYO, Japan - A model holds up what Sony Corp. claims is the world's lightest notebook personal computer at a ceremony at a Tokyo hotel on Nov. 12. The PCG-X505/SP, part of Sony's Vaio series, weighs 785 grams -- the lightest of all Windows XP-based PCs -- and is equipped with a 10.4-inch liquid crystal display. When closed, the front of the new PCs will measure as thin as 9.7 millimeters. Offering the PCG-X505/SP for 349,800 yen, Sony will accept orders via the Internet from Nov. 19. (Kyodo)

          TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows a super-light, slim Vaio X computer which Sony Corp. will release in Japan on Oct. 22.                       TOKYO, Japan - Sony Corp. said Nov. 1 it will release seven types of Vaio notebook personal computers from Dec. 2, claiming that the new products are suitable for business use as they are light and strong. The Vaio Type G (in photo) weighs 900 grams and boasts high tolerance to shaking and impacts as it is made of high-intensity carbon materials, Sony said.
