Translation kits available free at Narita airport

NARITA, Japan - The Japanese government and the Narita Airport Authority launched trial services on Jan. 8 to lend free a translation kit to foreign visitors arriving at Narita airport. The services are part of the government-sponsored Visit-to-Japan campaigns. The English-Japanese translation kit also provides guidance on airport facilities and tourist spots around the airport and services for telephone calls and e-mail. (Kyodo)

Airports, ports get new kits to diagnose SARS

NARITA, Japan - A quarantine official at Narita international airport, northeast of Tokyo, holds up a new medical kit for speedy diagnosis of SARS on Dec. 25. The health ministry supplied the kits to other major airports and port facilities in 13 prefectures in preparation for the year-end and New Year peak travel seasons. (Kyodo)
