SAMAWAH, Iraq - Fruits are abundant for sale at the main market in the southern Iraqi city of Samawah, 240 kilometers south of Baghdad, on Jan. 11. Nearly 90% of local residents welcome the deployment of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) troops to aid in reconstruction work in Samawah, according to a poll commissioned by Kyodo News.
